Antique

From Merriam-Webster Online:
1 : existing since or belonging to earlier times : ANCIENT <antique trade routes to the Orient>
2 a : being in the style or fashion of former times <antique manners and graces> b : made in or representative of the work of an earlier period <antique mirrors>; also : being an antique

Tablet of Hieroglyphics (Click photo for a larger image)

This is a tablet of hieroglyphics from Munich's Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst. It has certainly existed since, and belongs to, earlier times. It was wonderful to visit the museum and see and touch real ancient Egyptian artifacts! Ancient Egypt has always fascinated me and my husband and I hope to visit Egypt next fall and visit the pyramids and many other ancient Egyptian sites.
You can read more about Munich's Egyptian museum and see more photos here.

Oh yes ! you HAVE to make a cruise on the Nile ! It's wonderful and not expensive at all ! Best time indeed is spring or fall, otherwise it's far too hot ! When we did it with an American couple in July a few years, we had to do the visits from 6.30 a.m until 11.30, because at noon the temperature was 50°C ! Impossible to stay outside !

Oh wow...that's a great picture. We have a huge collection of Egyptian artifacts in our Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and they've always fascinated me.

Thanks so much for sharing and for stopping by my post.

I don't think I visited that museum when I visited Münich - but I did browse through several ones. The toy museum was a treat! Wonder if it still exists...
Thanks for stopping by :)

I love anything having to do with the antiquities of Egypt. Don't know if you're aware the King Tut exhibition is currently in Philly until Sept. 30th.

Here's the website in case you're interested in getting tickets.

Tutankhamun at the Franklin Institute Science Museum, Philly

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

Cheers!

I wonder if my brother has been to that museum. He performs quite often with the Munich Opera. I just couldn't figure out how the colors on the raised relief managed to survive and still be so vivid after so many thousands of years.

Funny, I used the definition in my post, too.:)

What a wonderful thing to see. We were only in Munich for one day--on a Sunday--so we saw almost nothing. I'll have to add that to my list of things to see when I go back.

Great photo by the way :)

Great picture for this week's theme. You can actually touch the exhibition? That is so cool. We have a science museum here in the valley where you touch and experience the things displayed :)

Have a wonderful weekend...

I get this feeling of amazement looking that that!

I'm not 100% sure if the einstein house is open anymore, but check up on the web for more info! A trip to bern won't be missed anyhow since there so much packed into old town!

Very cool. My mom and I went to the King Tut exhibit in Miami last year and the art was amazing. Even more amazing was how well preserved everything was.

How exciting it would be to touch something that old and know you're touching history.

I always wondered if things like this were just somebodies grocery list... Or maybe an ancient blog?

Wow! I know how you feel about seeing something like this in person. When we saw the Rosetta stone, it was a bit surreal. I'd love to visit Egypt if the political climate was a bit more stable...

I love wandering through the Egyptian exhibits at the museum. Wonder what it would be like to suddenly transported back then. What would the language sound like? Imagine watching the pyramids being built. Now you got me daydreaming lol.
Thanks for sharing
