Wednesday Mind Hump

This week's Wednesday Mind Hump

Today is Long Distance Day.
  1. What's the longest distance you've ever traveled?

My dad worked for many years in Saudi Arabia, with the International Civil Aviation Organization, setting up the crash/fire/rescue programme for their airports. We visited him there twice while he was working there, flying from Ottawa, to Montreal, to Paris, to Jeddah. A very LONG trip.

  2. What's the longest distance you've ever walked?

Does running count? If so, then a marathon (26.2 miles, 42.2 km) plus a bit of walking before and after the race. If running doesn't count, then probably around 12 miles or so.

  3. How far away is the friend/relative who lives the longest distance from you?

We're currently in Munich, Germany, so everyone is pretty far. I'm not sure who is the furthest, straight-line-distance wise. Most of our family is back in Canada, and we have friends all over the globe. Hawaii (Maui) would probably be the greatest distance from here.

My brother was stationed in Germany, he said getting there is a very long way no matter where in the US you are from. Thanks for visiting!

Congrats on being able to run a marathon. I just started training to be able to one day run (jog? finish?) a 5k.

Enjoyed reading your answers. It's hard when we live far away from family isnt it?

I think running counts... ;)

Those were long flights, particularly when you are young. Longest I ever did as a kid was Mexico to Philadelphia... That wasn't too bad - had a 4 hour layover in New Orleans which was boring as hell. Too young to go drinking and not enough time to go into the city. Oh well...
