Thursday Thirteen #62

Thirteen Things about Caylynn's Trip to Paris this weekend
  1. I'll be meeting a bunch of ladies from the women's Runango forum. I can't wait!
  2. I'll be running the Paris 20K race (20 km = 12.4 miles, for your Americans) on Sunday.
  3. The race is just short of a half-marathon (a half-marathon is 13.1 miles or 21.1 km).
  4. Hubby is coming with me to Paris, but he's not running the race.
  5. We're staying at the Mercure Tour Eiffel, right next to the Eiffel Tower!
  6. I'm looking forward to seeing the Eiffel Tower.
  7. The race starts and ends right next to the Eiffel Tower, which is why we're staying there.
  8. I'm looking forward to visiting the Louvre.
  9. Hubby and I are flying out Friday morning, and back Sunday evening.
  10. Because of the way the race course is laid out, hubby will be able to see me at various points along the route, take pictures of me, and be there with fresh Gatorade, should I need it.
  11. I've never run a 20km race before, so it's a guaranteed PR (Personal Record)! I have run 3 half-marathons, and one full-marathon previously, however.
  12. I'm looking forward to having the chance to practice my French. I was bilingual, but after starting German language training, my spoken French has gone downhill. I still understand it perfectly, and can read and write French with ease, but my speaking is rather weak.
  13. This is the first race over 10km that I've run without hubby running right along with me, so it will be an interesting challenge!
While you're here, please take a moment to visit my Tenant. Thanks!

The Eiffel Tower is nice, be sure to go to the top, the view is great. Also be sure to hang onto your wallet, there are a lot of pickpockets working the area.

You make me miss Germanyt and the surrounding countries every time I read your list. We loved the Mecure hotels. If you get a chance sometime you should take a winter trip to town just a bit NW of the CZ border called Oberwiesenthal (sp?) They have a BEAUTIFUL hotel right on the slopes I think it is a Panorama Ring Hotel. This little town is a must see!

Best wishes on your run!

When you're in Paris,
don't forget to say "Hi!"
to my mum... :-)

Joking apart, even so my mum lives in Paris, I've never visited the Eiffel Tower. I mean I went to where it is [can't really miss it] but never went inside.

I'll see if I can start the Thursday Thirteen next week. It's just that some of my Doctor Who related posts need to be published by Thursday morning. Mind you, getting them published a day earlier can't hurt. ;-)

Have fun!

I'm jealous. Always wanted to go to Paris, it's so exotic. People say that about Alaska (where I'm at) but I guess where you live is never the place you find most exotic.
