Windows

These are the lovely, huge windows in our Munich apartment. They let in plenty of light, but are rather different from most windows back in North America. You can open them two ways - either they open like a door, hinging inward; or they open from the top, hinging on the bottom. The other big difference is that there are no screens on the windows! We went out and bought some fabric bug screens to install, since we are used to having metal screens on our windows back in Canada.

You must have very sunny rooms then. Back here, we're used to having metal (aluminum) screens on our windows too. Got to keep the bugs and mosquitos out!

Thanks for the welcome and for stopping by!

Munich? Oh, it's a lovely city! I visited it some ten years ago... The apartment looks awesome, and the windows are wonderful - but I'd hate being the one washing them :D

Thanks for visiting me

Hi to a fellow expat in Europe! Stopping by from the Photo Hunt blogroll. I was just thinking the other day about the lack of screens... why is that? It would be so easy. And mosquitoes are such a problem here! Oh well...another expat mystery. Happy Saturday!

How nice and airy! Really adds meaning to let the sunshine in! Nice share! My windows are up! Happy Saturday!

Great big windows - I love them!

We do not have screens on our windows here in France as well. How did you secure the netting onto the windows? We had been thinking of doing something like that here.

Love all the windows -- makes the rooms look so light and airy. Can't imagine not having sceens, though!!

beautifully airy apartment! though definately with "ChupieandJ'smama" on having to clean them all! I am a notoriously lazy window washer though ;) lol.

Thanks for stopping by. Those windows are great. My brother is an opera singer and based in Vienna, Austrie. We visited him in Linz once and his apartment there had those same types of windows. He was having trouble getting used to the absence of screens as well. He has performed in Munich, Berlin and this summer was his third in Bayreuth.

Yep. Gotta keep the mozzies out! They are vicious here in Japan too. I swear you can feel them biting you they're huge!

Look at all that light! Wow, how lovely! And a perfect subject to post for the "window(s)" theme this week.

We have a large set of windows and I'm terrible at keeping them clean. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful windows. I would love to have ones that big in our place. And how neat that they open two ways. Thanks for stopping by.

no screens would be cool as long as you had no bugs..lol If we didn't have screens here in Texas we would have a house full of mosquitoes.

Very cool and BIG windows!!

Yeah, yeah, that's our windows. I think they wouldn't be suitable for canada, it's probably to cold there. We also have very big Windows they take more than a half from the wall, but we have electric stores to be more safe. Very nice appartment for Germany !!

Thanks for the comment on my windows ! It's fun to go from blog to blog and see all these windows !

Fabric bug screens ... interesting! I only know of aluminum screens. It's important to have screens here to keep the pesky insects especially flies and mosquitoes out.
