Happy Anniversary My Love

3 years ago today, you made me the happiest woman on Earth. We were married on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, and it was a perfect fairy-tale wedding.

I love you so much. You mean more to me than words could ever express. Thank you for being my best friend and my husband. I love you.

A true fairy-tale wedding. So what does this have to do with salty? Well, in that photo, behind us is the Atlantic Ocean! Lots and lots of salt water!

My husband and I were married in Mexico, on the Mayan Riviera, on April 22, 2004. It was a fairy-tale wedding, and a dream come true. The uniform my husband is wearing is called "Mess Kit" or "Mess Dress". It is the formal Canadian Forces army officer's uniform. My husband is an engineering officer in the Canadian land force (army). His Mess Kit reflects that of an army officer, with some details of the uniform indicating that he is an engineer, and some details indicating his rank (Major)

Hump Day Hunt - Week Forty-Eight
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the good ol' U. S. of A., so Mama Pherret will be doing plenty of this!
Not to worry if you live elsewhere, you'll be doing it as well, except probably not as much!

Canadian Thanksgiving was last month, but Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans, and anyone else celebrating.

Eat

Wedding and Honeymoon in Mexico

My husband and I were married in Mexico, on the Mayan Riviera, on April 22, 2004. Here are some photos from our wedding (cutting the wedding cake and feeding each other wedding cake) and from our special honeymoon dinner at the resort where we were married. (BTW, my husband's uniform in the wedding photos is his "Mess Kit" or "Mess Dress". It is the formal uniform (equivalent to a civilian tuxedo) that Canadian Forces army officers wear. Although it is red, it is NOT an RCMP uniform, it is a Canadian Forces army officer uniform.)

(Yes, I know, more wedding photos. I'm sure you're all sick of them by now. But I guess I'm not in the habit of taking photos of food, because these are the only "eat" photos I could find!)

Hump Day Hunt - Week Forty-Five

Since yesterday was Halloween...

Our word for this week is:
Treat
RingMy husband was in Canada last week, for meetings and briefings at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa (the position he's in here in Munich, as an exchange/liaison officer, means that he has to go back to Canada twice a year for meetings/briefings) and be brought back this lovely treat for me. It wasn't our anniversary, or my birthday, or any other special occasion. He just wanted to bring me back a lovely surprise. I have a wonderful hubby. I'm so very fortunate.

More pictures of my treat!

A Ring and A Run!

My hubby was away all last week. The job he is in right now, as a Liaison/Exchange Officer with the German military engineers, requires him to go back to Canada twice a year for meetings and briefings at National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ). Last week was one of those times. The nice thing is that NDHQ is in Ottawa, and my close family (parents, sister & brother-in-law & niece) are all in the Ottawa area.

I sent hubby with a list of things he had to pick up for me, that I haven't been able to find here in Germany, and he also brought me a surprise! He arrived home yesterday, and you can see the lovely diamond ring he brought back as a surprise below.

Then today we went for a run together. It's only my second run in the past two weeks. I ran a 20km race in Paris on October 15th, and took a few days off after the race to let my legs recover. Well, a was able to get one short run in before falling ill. I'm unfortunately the type of person who can't exercise when ill, otherwise I just make myself worse, and my illness lasts longer, even if it's just a head cold. So I ran once last Sunday, and then hadn't ran all week, while I was fighting a sore throat and sinus cold.

Fortunately, I'm starting to feel better, so hubby and I went for a short, easy run today. I have no idea how far we went, as I didn't care about distance. I just wanted to get out there, stretch the legs, get some fresh air, and start running again. We ran for 40 minutes. It was slow, my legs were heavy, and it took a lot out of me, but it's a start back. I have about 2 weeks to get back into the swing of things before we start training for a spring half- and full-marathon. We're looking at running the Frühjahrslauf München - a Munich half-marathon on April 1st and then the Vienna City Marathon on April 29th. Hopefully Munich will have a typical winter, and not another winter of record-breaking snows, so we can get our long runs in. But if we have a hard time getting our long runs in over the winter, we'll just run two halfs in the spring, instead of a half and a full.

Thursday Thirteen

#8 - Thirteen Things Caylynn misses about her hubby

My husband has been back in Canada all week (he has to attend meetings twice a year at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa) so I've been missing him. He's back tomorrow, and he's bringing all kinds of goodies back from Canada. Here are 13 things I miss:Hubby in his mess kit
  1. Waking up next to hubby.
  2. A kiss and an "I love you" first thing in the morning.
  3. Cuddling for a few minutes after the alarm has gone off.
  4. Having him tell me how beautiful and sexy I am.
  5. Going for runs together.
  6. Lifting weights together.
  7. Enjoying other forms of exercise together.
  8. His hugs.
  9. His kisses.
  10. His smile.
  11. Reading and discussing comic books together.
  12. Doing all the daily activities of life together: making supper, going shopping, etc.
  13. His warmth in bed next to me at night.
Bonus: Hubby doing most of the household chores! (Yep, I'm lucky - hubby does most of the chores around the house - I credit his army officer training!)
(BTW, the photo of my husband is him at our wedding in his formal uniform, called a "Mess Kit" - it is the equivalent of a civilian tuxedo.)
